ENTERTAINMENT "The Heart of Tennessee - A Musical Journey" March 8 - November 11 The Heart of Tennessee – A Musical Journey celebrates the deeply rich tradition of the music born in this great state. Performed by seven professional singers and a top tier group of Nashville musicians, the show takes a journey along the Music Highway from the roots of Appalachian music and bluegrass around the mountains of East Tennessee to the blues, rock and R & B sounds along the Mississippi River in Memphis while making an imperative visit to Music City, U.S.A., the states capital: Nashville. Interwoven with video and live performance, this dynamic show will visit the music of the Carter Family, Hank Williams, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Rufus Thomas, Otis Redding, Elvis Presley, Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood and everyone in between. Just as the three stars on the state flag of Tennessee represent the three geographical sections of the state, so too do they represent the varied styles of music that has influenced American music like no other region in the country…perhaps the world. The Heart of Tennessee – A Musical Journey is a high energy, highly professional production that will delight, inform and entertain all ages and all interests. Getting to view it while cruising on the General Jackson Showboat just makes it all the more special and a great show is transformed into an ‘event’ for all.
